So, it's been a long time since I did some mold-making, but I had a request to cast some difficult to recreate parts. This is a silicone mold and will have a second half poured on top. Once the molds cure, I can pour resin in the channels (where the white styrene bits are). These will hopefully trap air bubbles below the area of the actual railings. I'll also be pressure casting these in a pressure pot at around 40 PSI, which will significantly shrink any air bubbles. If you are looking to get into resin casting, I highly recommend the California Air Pressure Pot, which will really help with air bubbles. Not to mention, this pot is ready to go out of the box, and is super simple to use.
Hand-Sculpted Custom Micro Machine Figures!!!
I don't know if any of you know of Brian Webb or the amazing Micro Machine custom figures he did like 10 years ago, but he recently started up again. His Patreon page, Galactic Micro Figures, is something EVERY Micro Machines fan needs to check out. He personally sculpts, molds, casts, and hand paints all of the figures. And, it's only $8 a month for a figure (multiple figures, input on projects, and other goodies cost extra credits).
But seriously, this guy is amazing. I am so thankful he is sharing his art and abilities with the world, and I can't wait to see what all comes next. Please consider checking out his page and maybe joining. And yes, the figures are Micro Machine scaled with custom cases and printed cards to match Galoob's packaging.
Micro Galaxy Squadron – The New Action Fleet
I have an ALMOST complete collection of Jazwares' new Micro Galaxy Squadron line. As such, I have a new Scale List page for those ships. I also talk a little about removing the coffee drip wash that most of the ships have.
Apart from the weird wash, these toys are amazing. They are basically Action Fleet 2.0 with similarly-sized figures and starfighters. Some of the ships are larger, like the Falcon and Slave I. But most are AF-sized and look great. The detail really is top notch.
Looking Back on Star Wars Action Fleet
I didn't write it, but I loved the recent Gizmodo article by James Whitbrook: I Miss Star Wars Action Fleet. Yes, Rebel Scale is featured on there for several pics, but mostly I love how he put into words how much many of us LOVED the Action Fleet line. So, if you haven't seen it yet, please do.
As a quick update, I am slowly going through and uploading higher resolution photos of everything. This is going to take a while, but it will be worth it. Luckily, I have the originals of nearly everything. And I've thought about doing pages for Micro Machines and Titanium series, like what I did with Action Fleet, complete with photos and extra info. Anyway, I wish everyone the best. Thank you for your continued support.
Razor Crest reference size
So, the new Art of the Mandalorian Season 2 book shows us some nice renderings of various ships with sizes, including the Razor Crest. I already posted this to Starship Modeler on Facebook, but I wanted to post it here too. It's a great reference for modelers. And of course, the artwork is SPECTACULAR. For those curious, 80 feet is 24.38 meters, so those who assumed 25 m were spot on.
New page for the Altaya Star Wars line
For collectors out there, I have a new page up for the Altaya Star Wars line of diecast models. I have pictures of all the ones I own and subsequent scale (of course, haha). I don't see a lot of coverage for these, probably because they are only available in France. But if you want to check them out, feel free to.
