Star Wars Hot Wheels Starships Select

The Bigger & Better Die-Cast Hot Wheels Line

I didn't collect a lot of the original Hot Wheels ships, apart from the Resistance and concept ships. I never felt they were as good as the Titanium line. However, the newer Starships Select line is pretty impressive. These are larger than the original line and have better paintwork.

Detail-wise, I would place them behind the DeAgostini or Altaya lines, and probably a little better than Titanium. Paint is great, but I'm not a fan of the overly dark wash on most ships. However, I love the poseable ball joint stands, which are a real nice touch for displays.

For scaling and sizes, see my Hot Wheels list with all of the original and "Select" series ships I own.

Resistance B-wing

What was unused Return of the Jedi art, I think it evolved great for TROS. I love this model and paintwork. The stand allows full rotation, however the cockpit only rotates 90 degrees one direction.

TIE Bomber

Pretty nice. I'm glad it's not coated in weathering. The weird rod at the back between the pods is very strange.

TIE Avenger

I really think this one is too dark with the wash. Some details look a little off. I prefer the MGS version.

Onyx Cinder

I really love this design, and Hot Wheels did a great job with this one. The gun turrets rotate, as do the thrusters.

Luke's Landspeeder

Not bad, but it's a little bit stretched, especially the windscreen.

Naboo Royal Starship

The 2025 SDCC release was true chrome, this one was more silver.

E-wing

Love this release - great look.

U-wing

Really great overall. I love how the wings open correctly.

Jedi T-6 Shuttle

Great paint, but it doesn't swivel.

Mandalorian Gauntlet

Really nice colors, and the wings rotate.

TIE Interceptor

Nice proportions, but too dark.

Inquisitor Scythe

Great proportions, but the folding wings look bad, and I'm not sure what's up with the paintjob.

TIE Fighter

A little dark, but it looks great on a shelf.

Snowspeeder

Decent overall, could be better but could be worse.

Star Destroyer

Too bumpy with too deep/wide panel lines.

Imperial Shuttle

The proportions are pretty good, not much to fault here.

TIE Advanced x1

Not bad, but I'm not a fan of the overly dark wash they use.

    • I do not. I don’t collect most of the Hot Wheels stuff, apart from what I have here and the Scale Lists. Most of it I’ve sold.

  1. No problem thanks for letting me know. I think I’ve got most of the pieces I’m after for diorama set ups.

They aren’t quite as good as Micro Machines ones but they have opened up a bit more for some of the prequel films and I think I can repurpose some to work with some of the Micro Machine vehicles
