Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Stands

Because nobody puts Baby in the corner

So, apart from a few ships, Jazwares doesn't make stands for the Micro Galaxy Squadron. You get stands for the Blinds, Asajj, a few others, and that weird little rack thing for the TIE Interceptor, but nothing else. And there are several ships that need a stand to even appear in-flight. I see you Slave I.

So here, I decided to make a compendium of stands, alternatives, and any other ideas for displaying your ships. If you have suggestions stands, please let me know. I don't mind paying a reasonable price to individuals for their time printing stands.

I've arranged these in mostly-alphabetical order.

Only a few ships get official stands

Asajj Stand - Flex Yo Ginivex

This is still a great overall stand, and it's not hard to modify it or the ships to work. The holes you need to drill are about 2mm or 5/64". Also, the holes need to be spaced about 14 to 14.5mm apart. These holes are actually pretty easy to hide in most ships.

The Razor Crest didn't require any modifications besides the holes. However, for the V-wing, I had to remove the front part of the stand just in front of the pegs. So, each ship will require different modifications to the stand itself.

You can also see that you can display the Gauntlet with the wings canted slightly to give it a more action pose.

I think these would also look great painted, as there's a lot of detail you can't really see in its clear form.

Battle of Yavin Stand

I only bought this one because I found the set super-cheap on the Walmart website. Otherwise, it's not really worth it.

However, if you get the stand, it's pretty nice. They designed it for the X-wing and TIE Fighter, but you can attach other ships like the V-wing easily. The B-wing is barely hanging there, but you could use Blue-Tack to help it hold on.

I've dropped the stand a few times as well, and nothing has broken off yet.

Dual Printing Services - Etsy 3D-Prints

DPS offers several stands for many of the common MGS ships. These are filament-printed and seem pretty resilient. They are also offered in a variety of colors in 3" and 6" heights.

The best part about all of these is that the bases seem standardized, like a flattened Action Fleet stand. For people who are particular about stand uniformity, these are perfect. Finally, DPS offers hyperspace rings for your Jedi Interceptors, as well as laser effects for display.

Gundam & Figure Stands

There are a lot of Figure and Gundam stands out there. These are mostly clear and require some assembly. You can use the claw parts that come with the stands or drill a hole in the toy for the stand to attach to. Because these are clear styrene, they tend to be brittle. I've also noticed most have problems holding heavier ships.

Bandai Action Base - so far, these have been the best I've tried. They are fiddly to assemble, but are very strong, and can hold a lot of weight. Everything has to be assembled exactly in order. You have options of connector pegs. The ones seen here are 3mm, so you'll need to drill a 3mm hold to hold up a ship. Just clean up the sprue gates, study the instructions, and go slowly.

Be careful with the cheaper stands that use screws to hold them together. If you overtighten, it will crack the plastic.

Gwydion's Forest - Etsy 3D-Prints

I love the stands that Gwydion makes. They tend to be very aesthetically crafted, lots of curves without the sharper edges of typical stands. I only have the U-wing and B-wing, but they offer the most comprehensive selection of stands.

They are filament printed, so they are very resilient if you drop them. They also come in frosted clear, as an alternative to black. Ships merely sit on these stands, as opposed to clicking into a slot (don't knock them over). Lastly, I love how some are canted for an action pose, rather than a typical flat 90 degree display.

Kevin Tanner is well known in the Micro Galaxy community, and his stands are well-made. I have several of his stands because they are just solid black and great for photographing action shots.

He also makes a lot of hangars for "hanging" TIEs in your display cases. These look awesome and save a lot of space.

Obi-Ron Creations - Etsy 3D-Prints

Obi-Ron makes a lot of resin-printed stands with poseable attachment points, using ball joints. This allows a lot of poseability. Stands also have a base representing the faction. You can order these painted or unpainted.

The Ghost stand is phenomenal. Check out my video review.

Penn's Galactic Prints - Etsy 3D-Prints

Penn makes a lot of printed stands and signs using different colored filaments to add colors to the usual all black stands. These feature rotating ship holders for some poseability.

The one I bought had a beautifully printed Phoenix logo. I also love that this is the only B-wing stand that doesn't warp the thrusters, but holds onto the wings instead.
