Star Wars Micro Machines Playsets

Classic Trilogy playsets including the Transforming Head and Ship sets

Galoob released a slew of playsets for the original Classic Trilogy line. There were the basic playsets that featured single scenes from the movies. Then, there were the Transforming Action Sets, which were usually heads that opened into multiple scenes and play areas. Galoob released 2 Adventure Gear playsets. Finally, there was the big Millennium Falcon and the Double Takes Death Star playsets, which added a TON of play value for kids.

  1. I’m kind of surprised your missing the millennium falcon playsets, for whatever reason, they made 2 totally different sets! One could almost pass as a micro squadron stand in, while the other has a more typical fold out play area.

    • Oh I’ll get them again eventually. I had the big Double Takes one as a kid, but it was pretty beat up. For the website, I’ve been trying to rebuy NIB ones so I can get good photos of everything.

    • Thank you. I actually just got that one in, so I hope to get some photos soon. It was one of my favorites as a kid, and now I have a brand new one.

    • No thank you. I have one that I got in a while ago brand new, just haven’t photographed it yet. I may not buy the big Death Star Double Takes playset if you want to share photos of that one.

  2. Are you aware of a set that had a small scale die cast star destroyer? (Roughly 4-5inches) it wasn’t the regular die cast version. It was its own mould.

Ages ago I purchased one, managed to research it and found it was part of a play set. Believe it had a clear bent straw type stand that clipped onto the playset.

I’ve probably got a picture somewhere if I can dig it out to help.

    Thanks
    Stefan

    • I’m not aware of that one, only the standard diecast that came with the blue stand, later reissued as Titanium.

      • I’ve managed to find a picture, albeit a bit blurry and old (as I no longer own this die cast star destroyer)

It’s noticeably larger than the die cast one, more proportionally correct perhaps.

It’s definitely from a playset! 90’s for sure.

Are you aware of any metal star destroyers featuring in any play sets? Might not necessarily be micro machines.
