Sega AT-ACT

1/177 at 18cm tall

Sega is not only a gaming company, but they also do lines of collectibles. They released a lot of Star Wars models, which mirrored the sizes and scales of various Bandai and Revell kits. Most were subpar compared to Bandai. However, they released a model of the AT-ACT, which far exceeded the Revell version. The Sega one is mostly the same size, but offers a lot better detail:

  • 4th inner toes on the feet
  • taller, more accurate feet
  • tension bar on the inner side of the foot
  • better leg detail
  • much better/accurate hull detail
  • more detailed cockpit
  • more accurate laser cannons

The underside is still pretty basic, but it's leagues beyond the Revell release. The downside is that Sega only does limited runs of their kits. So, this one is near impossible to find now.

While undersized (smaller than 1/144), it still looks good next to the Bandai AT-AT pictured right.

  1. Yes, the Sega’s detailing is indeed better, but I’ve heard that this model has almost no moving parts, unlike Revell’s version. Can you compare the two? And it would be great to know what scale models exist for them, for example, for a diorama.

    • Oh no, the Sega has a lot of moving parts. The blasters rotate and the head is full poseable with 2 points of articulation. The cargo pod probably could be removed, but I haven’t tried. Legs can have different positions at the hip joints, but because the knees and feet don’t move, it doesn’t make sense to repose them.

Revell is nearly 2cm taller at 1/161 vs Sega at 1/177. See this page for the Sega stuff Miscellaneous
