Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Series 6

2022 Jazwares Action Fleet-inspired line

Series 6 began hitting mid 2024 with a lot of REALLY good ships and a lot of repaints. This time, the large vehicles are taking center stage with the Ghost and AT-TE being the most anticipated. I'm also really looking forward to the E-wing because I love the new Ahsoka design for it. The 2 Phantoms and Hera's X-wing will be excellent additions to the line.

For scale-enthusiasts, a release of the Fang Fighter and Snubfighter will help with figuring out how large these ships really were.

There are still no updates on the AT-DP, Cloud Car, V-19, or any other Series 5 promo image ships. Jazwares pushed these back indefinitely.

This is from DC's Ultimate Unofficial Guide. All thanks go to him.

Series 6 Blind Boxes

Features:

  • AT-RT - Clone Trooper
  • BARC Speeder - Clone Trooper
  • STAP - Battle Droid
  • Flitknot Speeder - Geonosian Warrior
  • BARC Speeder - Clone Sergent (Green)
  • BARC Speeder - Clone Captain (Red)

This is definitely an army builder set. The only unique ones are the Clone Sergent and Captain, which feature unique paint jobs. The Geonosian Warrior has a little more gold. However, apart from those, everything else is the same as prior releases. I wish there were more paint variations. Note, there's only 6 releases this round.

The green Clone Sergent is the Rare with the red Clone Captain being the Chase of this series.

Lt. Callahan's E-wing

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • push-button on bottom to pop out R2 unit
  • poseable Lt. Callahan & KE4-N4

Of the two E-wing releases, I definitely like this one the best. The way they did the blue markings looks really cool. Lt. Callahan is a VERY detailed figure, and I kinda want to get more just to have them for other fighters. The droid KE4-N4 is an equal star here, and it looks really great with the painted colors and details.

Dark Empire E-wing

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • push-button on bottom to pop out R2 unit
  • poseable Rebel Pilot & R5 Unit

This has got to be my favorite version of the E-wing. The detail is phenomenal, especially all the greeblies. The cockpit is really nice with lots of panels and "guts". Unlike other ships (ahem A-wing) the 3-piece landing gear is very solid and gives it a nice profile. Finally, the pilot and R5 both look really good with perfect painting.

Pirate Snub Fighter

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • poseable Vane

While this is a simple toy without a lot of fluff, I do think this is a great release. Vane looks great for the scale. Speaking of, there is no official reference size, so I'm assuming this one is about 1/72 looking at the stills from Mandalorian, aka it is in scale with the figures.

Blue Resistance A-wing

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear
  • poseable Resistance A-wing Pilot

Well, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like this A-wing. The colors and underside deco is amazing. I like the weathered look, not too overdone. I also had ordered 3, and 3 had similar markings: paint jobs, weathering, and no visible QC issues. That is impressive. The figures is less impressive. I hope they next make Tallie Lintra, a named character that had several spoken lines.

TIE Fighter (Armada)

Features:

  • same features as Series 1 TIE Fighter
  • new painted windows & Imperial cogs
  • poseable Resistance A-wing Pilot

I know a lot of people thought this was going to be bigger, but Jazwares has stated that Armada editions are army builders or for people who didn't get it in the first run. This release uses the same molds and molded plastic color as the Series 1 version (maybe a hair more yellow in the grey plastic this time). The interior rails of the TIE windows are painted this time around, and you get the detailed Imperial cogs on the pilot instead of blobs of paint.

Left in the photos is Series 1. Right is Armada.

Hera's X-wing

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • opening s-foils
  • push-button on bottom to pop out Chopper
  • poseable Hera Syndulla & Chopper

This is by far my favorite X-wing and sports one of the best paint jobs to date. I love all of the different colors and the way they captured the look of Rebels. Hera's mold is great. Chopper is on another level with lots of paint, detail, and even a metallic teal panel.

Phantom I

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • opening wings
  • rotating rear cannon
  • opening center section with multiple seating options
  • poseable Ezra Bridger & Chopper

I was surprised how functional this model is. Jazwares did a great job. The wings don't like up perfectly, but you still get the multiple pivot points. I love the full interior. Ezra has a great mold and paint job, and Chopper is one of the best minis to date.

Fang Fighter

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • opening engine hatches (2)
  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • poseable Mandalorian Fleet Commander (removable jet pack)

I really like the look and size of the Fang Fighter. It's a great miniature with a lot of detail. The weathering is just right, and the Mandalorian figure has a bright, cool looking paint job. Jet pack must be removed to fit in cockpit.

For those curious, this models the Fang Fighter as seen in The Mandalorian. The Rebels and TROS versions were quite different featuring rotating wings, guns embedded into the wings, altered thruster arrangement, and a slimmer/taller canopy.

Gauntlet Armada Edition

Features:

  • opening cockpit
  • retractable landing gear
  • rotating center hull
  • wings rotate up for landing position
  • poseable Bo-Katan

This is a GREAT update to the original Gauntlet that suffers from a lackluster paint job. Even Bo-Katan got an updated look.

Luke's X-wing (Kenner Deco)

Features:

  • same features as other X-wings
  • poseable Luke Skywalker & R2-D2 in retro Kenner deco

I don't like this one. I hated photographing it. And I Luke didn't want to stand up. I had to photo against my black backdrop because the pure white plastic kept blowing out against the white background I usually use. Now, if it was yellowed like most of the Kenner 1977 X-wings, it might photograph better.

The packaging insert is cool, and I know some people will love it, but it's not for me. Luke with sunglasses is a nice touch though.

AT-TE

Features:

  • each leg rotates at 2 joints
  • front & rear section rotates and elevates
  • opening cockpit with 2 seats
  • rotating laser turrets (6)
  • mass driver cannon rotates and elevates
  • front section has 2 lift-off panels
  • rear section panel lifts off with 2 spots for speeders
  • speeder ramp lowers
  • includes BARC speeder
  • poseable Captain Rex, AT-TE Driver, Clonetroopers (3)

For the my favorite walker, they did a fantastic job overall. The poseability is great, and it's mostly in-scale with the figures. The cockpit fits 2 pilots, and there are weapon stations inside the hulls to control the turrets. I especially like how poseable the center linkage is. Finally, the lowering ramp is a nice touch. Figures are great, but I wish we got an extra driver.

On the downside, I wish the entire mass driver cannon elevated as seen in RotS, not just the front cannon bit. The underside is surprisingly bare with lots of empty and uncovered space. I  would have been happy to pay another $10 for more detail and a larger cut-out of the front hull interior. And yet, you still get an amazing amount of features for what you pay.

I pictured the AT-TE on the base I used for my Cargo Walker diorama. It's larger than the Revell kit, but it looks great in a diorama. Lastly, I have is next to the unproduced Homing Spider Droid.

Features:

  • retractable landing gear (3)
  • top turret rotates and elevates with opening hatch
  • front turret rotates
  • cockpit seats 5  and Chopper
  • opening hatch shows full interior with stickers/artwork
  • opening hidden engine access hatch
  • flip airlocks to link to astromech sockets in other starfighters (2)
  • rear docking for Phantom I & II
  • lights & sounds activated by 2 buttons near rear docking bay
  • sounds also activate with rolling, tilting, and shaking the ship
  • each Phantom shuttle activates different landing/take-off sounds
  • buttons change sounds if Phantom is docked
  • poseable Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrelios, & Sabine Wren

It's the Ghost, and it is amazing. Yes, the colors are little vibrant and the wash is too heavy, but this ship has everything you could ask for. This is probably as close to a playset as we will ever get, and you can do so much with this ship. Of course, the figures are each unique and amazing. Although, it seems like many of the Sabine's had mis-sculpted helmets. Other than that, it's GREAT.

Also, in case you didn't read the instructions:

Pressing either button makes the startup sound.

Button 1 activates top/front turret yellow lights and laser firing sounds

Button 2 activates white cockpit lights, landing gear drop down, and airlock sounds

Pressing Button 1 & 2 will activate engine lights and hyperdrive sound.

Tilting up or down brightens the thrusters and make engine sounds.

Tilting left or right makes flyby sounds and laser sounds.

Shaking will flash lights and cycles through deflector shield, alarm, and explosion sounds.

Inserting either Phantom shuttle will make the docking sounds for that version.

Removing the shuttle will make lift-off sounds.

With Phantom docked, Button 2 makes Phantom rapid firing sounds.

The Ghost goes to sleep after 30 seconds. It is tired. Let it rest.

Havoc Marauder (Rescue Mission)

Features:

  • same features as Series 2 Havoc Marauder
  • poseable Hunter & Wrecker (both with removable backpacks)

It's the same Havoc Marauder we've seen before, but with a few paint differences. Interior has some wash. There are some brown panels and some black paint around the canopy. And you get the white, weathered streaks. However, the figures are much improved with the Season 2 colorations.

  3. Just picked up an AT-TE and man, I am just so impressed with this most recent series. Outstanding display quality detailing without sacrificing playability, and such a huge leap from the series 1 ships.

  4. After getting the Ghost, I’m kind of disappointed with the Falcon that I loved. I’m hoping for a ARC-170 in the future.

    • I’m really hoping they redo the Falcon later on as an Armada edition. They’re changing the scale of the series 1 TIE for the new Armada TIE, matching it to the Interceptors and bomber, so I have some hope they’ll do something like that with the latest budget increase. I’d also love to see an updated LAAT, but we’ll see.

      • I would love a better Falcon. I saw the Armada TIE, but the package is the same size, so I’m not entirely convinced they up-sized it. That would be costly, but definitely awesome if that’s what they did.

  5. Any idea when we might see the Phantom on store shelves? I’ve seen a few pop up on Ebay, but none on Amazon or at Target.

  6. Is there a hiddden release button or something on the Ghost for the Phantom? It feels like I’m gonna break it when I try to remove it

    • No button unfortunately. So far mine hasn’t broken, but you do have to pull pretty hard. Sometimes rocking it left/right helps a little.

      • I can literally pick up the entire Ghost by the Phantom. If I have one problem with this line as a whole, it’s that a lot of these kinds of play features require significant force to open/remove. The top panel on the Ghost honestly feels the same way to me.

        • Yeah it’s very solid when it snaps in. I worry about my A-wing canopies. Apart from the Hera release, all of the others feel like I’m about to break them to open them.

  7. I managed to snag an AT-TE at my local walmart, as well as a fang fighter and a sand skiff. No sign of any other new ones unfortunately, but I hope they get the ghost or T-6 shuttle soon.

  8. That “Dark Empire” E-wing is disappointing. It would have nice if they had tried to match the comics. And an R5? Really? I would been happy with a repainted R2 as a stand in for an R7 unit.

    • I didn’t think it was that bad. I liked that the markings were a different design than the blue. An R7 would have been cooler, but the R5 paint job was nice.

  9. Absolutely love these newest releases. The level of detail is just amazing and there’s a ton of kit-bashing potential. With all the army builders too this series, thinking of coming up with a tabletop game to compliment the display quality. Seriously top notch toys.

  10. Hi Johnathan,

I really enjoy your site (kudos to you!). FYI today is 12/7/24 and the Ghost is $15 at walmart as highlighted deal. I don’t know how long this will last, but thought I should pass it on as it is GREAT deal.

    Regards, Tony
