Star Wars Miscellaneous Micro Machines

Collector's sets, gift sets, and random releases from the Original Trilogy Collection

"Forces" Gift Sets

Galoob released 8 gift sets over the years with various faction or movie-related miniatures. Each featured previously released figures and ships except for 1 new figure per set. While some found there way into playsets, nearly all of the "exclusive" figures only appeared in these collector's sets.

Galaxy Battles 1st Edition - Rebel Pilot

Galaxy Battles 2nd Edition - Nien Nunb

Imperial Forces 1st Edition - Palpatine

Imperial Forces 2nd Edition - Darth Vader

Single Ship Releases

Galoob released several ships on single cards, especially overseas. While these ships are identical to the 3-pack releases, they often had different paint jobs. Interestingly, the TIE Advanced had a little notch cut in back of each of the wings. This is not present on any other version.

There's not much difference between the Y-wing and Snowspeeder single releases, just slight tint shifts.

Danglers

The company Applause used Galoob Micro Machines as "Danglers". Meant to hang on a window or flat surface, the ships had suction cups and steel wire attachments. Also, they had extra nubs in the center of the ships for the wire. Usually the paint jobs were a little rough. I've seen the following: TIE Fighter, X-wing, Y-wing, Death Star, Millennium Falcon, Star Destroyer, and several Episode I ships.

Metallic Sets

Galoob released 3 different weathered-silver or pewter-looking sets, one for each original film. They also released a massive set in a weathered-bronze look, which also included figures. All of these were still plastic, just painted to look like metal.

Master Collector's Sets

Galoob released 2 large collector's sets, each slightly different. Yes, both were titled "Master Collector's Sets", but neither was a full set of everything you could get in the 3-packs. The first set only gets some of the most popular ships, leaving out some of my favorite capital ships. And contrary to what it says, the Executor is available in others sets.

Now, the second version was nearly complete - only missing the last 4 vehicle 3-packs. And it did include the ships from the Shadows of the Empire series. However, if you bought this set, you'd still be missing the Imperial Landing Craft, Tibanna Gas Facility, Death Star I, white V35 Landspeeder, grey/brown Swoop bike, Outrider variant, and all of the battle-damaged ships.

European Exclusive Sets

At least 3 sets I've found were released only overseas in European markets. Two 3-pack Bronze sets included ships from each classic film (I haven't seen a third).

Finally, they released a Trilogy Select Set with various ships in a large bubble card, very unique.

Japanese Exclusive Sets

I've only found one of these 2-packs which contained both a vehicle and figure. I'm not sure how widespread these were, but the seller claimed they were released in Japan only.

T-shirt Giveaway

Denmark had a T-shirt giveaway in 1996. I've never seen one of these t-shirts. I only recently found the ad. Lower text reads as follows:

"Collect 10 barcodes from Micro Machines packages and answer one question correctly to win a real Micro Machines T-shirt. To enter, you mist first pick up a competition flyer where you buy Micro Machines.
