“No Disassemble. Number 5 is Alive.”

Short answer - it's not worth trying to take apart the wings and missiles from the TIE Avenger.

Long answer: I tried several days of hot water/ice water to try and break apart the glue holding the TIE Avenger together with no luck. The wings seem to be either glued or molded with the upper hull unlike other TIEs. You can pull off the rear wing sections without much effort. Everything else is too well attached. The long missiles eventually popped off, but not without destroying the wing. I could NOT get the shorter rockets removed completely. The heavy laser turret is pressure-fit to a metal rod inside the wing.

However, I did harvest some control panels, seat, and other goodies. So, not a total loss for this extra Avenger.

  1. You mad man! These ships are as rare as hens teeth in the Uk! Or you have to pay sky high prices, and you go all gung ho in destroying a thing of bueaty!
    Have you no shame !?

  2. Yeah m8, just biding my time. You know I buy the majority of the “micro galaxy squadron” models directly from the U.S.A. Even once I add the shipping and the taxes, they still work out cheaper than buying them here and that’s just if you can find any! You would not believe how many of the series 1’s that are still in the stores here.

    • It’s funny you say that. I buy these for a buddy in France. He’s in the same boat, not much on the shelves, especially not the latest waves.

  3. On the Amazon listing, there is a photo of the back of the packaging that shows that the long missiles were originally intended to be removable.
