I came, I saw, I conquered

Apart from a lull in Micro Galaxy releases, I'm taking up working on some customs lately. Now, any time I'm working on a project, I inevitably find excuses to try new tools or rather, buy stuff that I may not need, but just gotta test. So, I'm ordering a few new hobby saws. I love the ones by Zona, but I found this one little Knife Saw by Olfa. I love Olfa snap-off blades, excellent Japanese quality, so we'll see how the saw holds up. I may also buy bandaids - because if you buy a saw, bandaids are the next necessity.

Also, I'm planning some new photo galleries with Hallmark ornaments, De Agostini minis from mid 2000s, and Hot Wheels Select. I don't have everything in any of those series, but it might help people shopping for other miniatures.

  1. See that’s what I should do, get a razor saw so i don’t drive myself nuts cutting polystyrene sheets with a damn hobby knife. Thank you for reminding me these exist!

    • Usually, I like scoring and snapping polystyrene sheets. I’ll use a steel ruler and score it using the Tamiya Plastic Scriber. 2 passes are usually enough to snap it. But when it comes to weird shapes or kit-bashing, I prefer saws.

  2. I’ve become fairly interested in the Starship Select line. I haven’t been able to dive in to many of the ships yet, but once you get past the heavy wash, I think some of them are some of the best castings outside of speciality collectibles. The wash doesn’t need to be a deal breaker, even for those that don’t want to open the package or do extra work on them. The wash appears to be applied by hand, so if you look through listings for a bit, you’ll notice that some are definitely lighter and more well done on the wash than others.

You’d think at a glance, castings like The Ghost are all pretty straightforward. But between the main Hotwheels line, Starship Select, and Titanium Black series, you indeed have 3 different castings entirely.
In my opinion, the Select Ghost and Falcon are the best of those 3 lines and the Titanium series, the falcon by a good margin too.
